Province of Pangasinan is well known for its best product “bagoong”.  Salted and fermented fish made by Pangasinenses are really far different to other bagoong makers in Philippines.  Its taste and smell makes big difference.  Bagoong industry in Pangasinan is a big industry in the province; it provides employment for Pangasinenses especially in town Lingayen, where almost 35% of livelihood came from.  It helps a lot of residents especially those who are indigents.

Ilocanos favorite menu called “pinakbet” main ingredient is bagoong, they claim that vegetables were made more delicious with bagoong.  Mangoes from town of Mangatarem are even more delicious with some dip of fish bagoong.  The most salable product in the market in nearby towns is bagoong.  Ilocanos and Pangasinenses are patronizing their own product where in they even sold it in nearby cities and in all part of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.  Some bagoong manufacturers also ventures business internationally, they export their product on other countries, because of the demands; the spread of bagoong business is inevitably and truly it’s profitable.

Our sea has really a lot to offer, fishes from seas are the main ingredient in making bagoong.  It does not only provide food for people but indeed it also gives more employment for people which are very important in one community.  We really need to take good care of our nature especially our oceans and seas to give us back what we want and what we need.
